Description

    Water is ubiquitous and critical to controlling product texture, quality safety and other characteristics. Therefore, many manufacturers – from food to lumber and more – need to know the moisture content of raw materials and products. Additionally, many manufacturers, especially in the food, pharmaceutical and cannabis industries, are mandated by government regulations to measure moisture content.

    The traditional method of measurement is the oven method. First weigh and record the weight of the sample, then put the sample into the oven for several hours of high temperature drying, and finally weigh the dried sample to calculate the moisture content of the product. Although the oven method can provide accurate moisture content data, its measurement effect is too low to meet the needs of rapid measurement for timely production adjustments.

    MD-610A moisture analyzer not only provides accurate and reliable measurement results, but also greatly improves the measurement efficiency, which can be completed within 5 minutes for most products. It is one of the best choices for factories and research institutions to measure moisture content.

    Moisture analyzer, also known as moisture balance or moisture meter, consists of weighing system and heating system. Moisture analyzer works according to the thermo-gravimetric principle, also call the ‘Loss on Drying’ principle.  After adding a sample to the moisture analyzer, the instrument will record the starting weight of the sample. Then, the halogen lamp will heat and dry the sample. During the drying process, the weighing system continuously records the weight of the sample. When the sample no longer loses weight, the instrument will stop drying and calculate the moisture content based on the total loss in weight.

    MD-610A moisture analyzer is an ideal choice for fast and accurate measurement of moisture content. It can measure the moisture content of various types of samples, such as granules, powders, flakes, pastes, etc.

FAQ

How to determine whether a sample can be measured with moisture analyzer?

    Check if the sample meets the following two conditions:
  1. The sample can be heated. During the heating process, there will be no combustion, explosion, etc.
  2、During the heating process, the sample will not produce other volatile substances except moisture.

How to determine how many samples should be added?

    For samples with a moisture content above 10%, it is recommended to add a sample weight of more than 5g;
For samples with moisture content between 1% and 10%, it is recommended to add a sample weight of more than 10g;
For samples with moisture content below 1%, it is recommended to add a sample weight of more than 20g.
Moisture Analyzer mainly counts the total weight loss of the sample during the drying process. When the value of the total weight loss is large enough, the repeatability of the measurement data will be better and the error will be smaller. So, the lower the moisture content of the sample, the larger the sample weight required. Only in this way can the total weight loss be ensured to be large enough.

How to choose a moisture analyzer?

    Choose according to the weighing accuracy of the moisture analyzer. The higher the weighing accuracy, the better the accuracy and repeatability of the measurement results.
